Dual Diagnosis
Dual Diagnosis (also called co-occurring disorders, COD) is the condition of suffering from a mental illness and a co-morbid substance abuse problem. It may be depression and alcoholism, or bipolarity and drug addiction, stress and gambling, anxiety and eating disorders with drug abuse, etc.
Diagnosing a primary psychiatric illness in substance abusers is challenging as drug abuse itself often induces psychiatric symptoms, thus making it necessary to differentiate between substance induced and pre-existing mental illness.
At Villa Matrix we integrate treatment involving a blend of therapies into a single coherent treatment package for each individual patient, developed with a consistent philosophy and approach among our team of psychiatrists, psychologists and social workers providing the required care while preparing the patient for a balanced and healthy life after treatment.
